DEREGULATE NOW

Lest anyone think government meddling and regulating is a myth, as apparently Cass Sunstein does, this article will help.  As a personal aside, several years ago after finishing an expensive and complete redo of our kitchen, an inspector for the city paid us a final "sign-off" visit.  After raving about the beauty of the finished work, he announced we had to move the electrical outlet on the island counter from its present location three inches closer to the edge of the counter top.  His explanation why:  if you plug an appliance into the outlet as it now stands, the three inch longer cord could possibly cause someone to trip because of its extra length.  This inspector was politely escorted from the premises and told the change would not be made and he could make of that whatever he wanted.  That was three yearas ago and we have not heard back from the city, however once suspects our victory may be a pyrrhic one once we sell the house, if we ever do.  We'll take our chances.  Clearly all these regulations are nothing more than employment opportunities for unsuccessful contractors and sources of revenue for cities.  In both cases unnecessary, costly, and maddening.
