This project is a test of the Trump admin's understanding of the debt problem of the Federal Government. It is inexcusable and wrong at every level for the federal government to be involved in such a project. If the project is viable, it can attract sufficient private sector funds to complete. One suspects it is not since the promoters are now approaching the3 feds for approval of their PABs and a tacit approval of this risky project. If a high speed train is such a wonderful idea, why seek loan guarantees from the feds? Also, where are the examples of similar projects succeeding in this country. In addition this is a foreign-owned and controlled project, soup to nuts! Why is our government sponsoring and financing foreign entities. China anyone?
