FROM A FRIEND OF LEE'S, FOR PROSTATE CANCER VICTIMS:
Sean and Bobby,
As you know I have Prostate cancer. It's not severe, but it needs to be taken care of. To that end, I'm going to have my prostate removed by "robotic" surgery on Tuesday morning, March 10th.
My Father had it. My brother had it. There's obviously a genetic component, so you boys are going to have to be more careful than most. But, every male will develop Prostate Cancer at some point in his life. Later is better than sooner and there's lots of easy things to do.
Prostate cancer releases a marker in the blood called Prostate Specific Antigen. Everyone with a Prostate as a PSA level. Normal is less that 1.0, but typically should be less than 0.5. In October, my PSA was 4.8, by Thanksgiving, it was 6.6. At which point a biopsy was performed and a more aggressive form of the cancer was found. I studied all the currently available treatment options, and, for my age determined surgery was the best course.
During the waiting period, I choose to experiment with myself, much as my Father had, and fighting the cancer with naturally available therapeutics.
In three months, my PSA went from 6.6 to 5.2. This means I killed 25% of the cancer on my own in 3 months. I decided to explain how I did so you can decide on a life style adaptation that will reduce your risk of getting the disease early. I was on a crash course, so there is no need to be this aggressive unless or until your PSA rises above 1.0.
No one lives forever. As you progress through life, you can risk everything and lose it all but your health. Bad health makes for a bad life. A good life means good health. This means taking good care of yourself both physically and mentally.
Prostate cancer effects 200,000 men a year. 38,000 deaths occur each year - a 20% mortality rate. African-Americans have the highest rate of Prostate cancer in the world, yet the disease in rare in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
What's the difference? Clearly, it has a lot to do with what you eat. In Asia, Africa and Latin America meat as a source of protein is expensive. Beans, chicken and fish are more typical protein sources.
No one knows what causes Prostate Cancer. However, the Prostate's functions are controlled by testosterone. Prostate Cancer is therefore hormonal in nature. In particular, it is the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) that accelerates the disease.
Therefore, the reduction of testosterone reduces DHT reduces the chances of Prostate cancer. Easier said than done, my boys. However, we can target the conversion of testosterone into DHT because it's a chemical process - one you can affect by what you eat, drink and do.
If you want to cut to the chase, here's my recommendation. Below the list you can read what I was doing and why I recommend this program.
1 hour aerobic exercise at least 5 days week
Diet
low in red meat
low in fat, esp meat fat
high in tomatoes, beans, soy, olive oil
high in carrots, bell peppers, pink grapefruit, dried apricots
More red wine than beer
Low amounts of corn oil, eg fewer "fries", corn chips, corn oil salad
Replace all corn oil with olive oil or avocado oil
Supplements - 1x per day
Full daily vitamin and mineral
with 200% MDR ZINC, calcium, Selenium -- NO CADMIUM!!
Vitamin E 5mg
Vitamin D3 500-1000mg or 10 minutes of sunshine w/o sunscreen per day
Lycopene 15mg - can't be converted to Vitamin A, so very effect anti-oxidant
Genistein 8mg - from soybeans (or 8oz of tofu)
Saw Palmetto - 320mg of extract
Curcumin 1000mg - (Tumeric) curry powder
Omega 3 - EPA, DHA - 1200mg
Modified Citrus pectin - 5000mg
Red Rice Yeast - 500mg - lowers cholestral
Ibuprohin or aspirin - 350mg
MENTAL IMAGING
5 minutes per day imagine your immune system as the Spartans of ancient Greece. The enemy is at the gates and you ruthlessly slaughter any interlopers, including the Trojan Horse of cancer. You can beat it. You will beat it.
STRESS REDUCTION
Cancer and stress are best friends. But they are more like Samson and Delilah. Eliminate one, and you cripple the other. Stress is anything that causes you to look in the mirror and not see a beautiful person. It isn't about money, or love, or "bad luck", its about how you REACT to them, or the lack of them.

STRESS REDUCTION

Stress is anything that causes you to look in the mirror and not see a beautiful person. It isn't about money, or love, or "bad luck", its about how you REACT to them, or the lack of them.

Here's why.
EXERCISE, RED MEAT, FAT, CHOLESTEROL
First of all, I read a study done at UCLA in which men with Prostate Cancer did hard aerobic exercise at least 1 hour every day. Many saw reductions in the PSA as much as 50% in one year. These results were do to the chemicals that regulate the storage of fat and the creation of cholesterol. Lots of physical and intensely aerobic exercise has been know to reduce both fat and the kind of cholesterol you produce in your the liver. Exercise also uses up testosterone. Therefore, a low fat, low cholesterol highly active life style is especially important in males.
So, just before Christmas I started running 6 miles a day, at least 5 days per week. I alternated this with bike riding for an hour. I ran because the local winter lap pool was closed.
TOMATOES
Tomatoes are high in Lycopene. Lycopene is a proven anti-oxidant present in our blood and a proven tumor inhibitor. Studies have shown that men with higher levels of lycopene are less likely to develop prostate cancer. In a study of 41 countries men who eat more than 6kcal of tomatoes per day had a significantly reduced risk of prostate cancer.
Also high in lycopene: carrots, bell peppers, watermelon, pink grapefruit, apricots
BEER
Beer lovers won't like this - beer produces more testosterone than other kinds of alcohol.
CORN OIL
Studies have shown that the fat from corn oil(alpha-linolenic acid-ALA) plays an important role in the conversion of testosterone into DHT - the bad stuff. Olive oil has 4x less ALA, with avocado oil being the best.
So, avoid large quantities of corn oil and products with corn oil in them. Yes, that means corn chips fried in corn oil.
SUPPLEMENTS:
VITAMIN E - 5mg day
A study of 30,000 men over 9 years showed that those who received high doses of Vitamin E supplements significantly reduced the risk of getting the disease. For those with the disease, Vitamin E helped the immune system to initiate apoptosis in cancer cells. Apoptosis is "programmed cell death" and is used by the immune system to eliminate corrupt cells (cancer).
VITAMIN D3 - 1000mg - 3x day - 3000mg (3000% MDR) - CAUTION!!!
A study in rats showed that a relative of Vitamin D suppressed tumor growth. In humans, the hormone version of Vitamin D inhibits the invasive growth properties of human Prostate cancer. Vitamin D3 is converted by the liver into the hormone version of Vitamin D.
CAUTION - too much Vitamin D interferes with the absorption of calcium. If you take high doses of Vitamin D, you need to also take calcium and zinc.
ZINC
Zinc plays an important role androgen (male/female hormone systems) metabolism. Estrogen reduces the uptake of zinc. Men with prostate cancer have higher levels of estrogen. Higher levels of estrogen prohibit the prostate from eliminating DHT -- the bad stuff -- from the prostate. Zinc inhibits the conversion of testosterone to DHT. Zinc, like Saw Palmetto, prevents the binding of androgens and inhibits prolactin secretion. Prolactin increases the uptake of testosterone in the prostate, causing it to produce more DHT - the bad stuff. Zinc is an essential component of apoptosis (programmed cell death).
CADMIUM -- AVOID!
Cadmium is an antagonist to Zinc, so it has the opposite effects
GENISTEIN - soy concentrate with 8mg - 3x day = 24mg
Geninstein and Daidzein are the two major ingredients of soy attributed to the much lower rate of both Prostate cancer and cholesterol in Asia populations. Both have been shown to inhibit the conversion of testosterone into DHT - the bad stuff.
SAW PALMETTO - 288mg 3x day = 864mg
Like EPA and DHA, the fatty acid in Saw Palmetto inhibits the conversion of testosterone into DHT, and, like Zinc, prevents the binding of androgens, limiting the production of prolaction. Much of the Saw Palmetto sold is just dried and powdered berries. I used the extract, which is more expensive, but I wanted to take a lot of it. Over long periods of time, powdered berries is probably Ok.
CURCUMIN(Tumeric) yielding 1000mg of Curcumin - 3x day = 3000mg
India has the lowest cancer rates in the world, and it is believed that curry, which contains TUMERIC is one reason. TUMERIC contains Curcumin. Studies have shown that Curcumin enhances the immune system's natural cancer-fighting chemistry.
OMEGA 3 - EPA and DHA 1200mg 3x day = 3600mg
These two fatty acids, along with the fatty acid contained in Saw Palmetto, inhibit the conversion of testosterone into DHT - the bad stuff.
MODIFIED CITRUS PECTIN - 5000mg in water 3x day = 15000mg
A study in rats showed that 1% by volume of drinking water laced with water soluble citrus pectin significantly reduced the spread of Prostate cancer outside the prostate (metastize). 1.6mg/liter reduced the tumor size of cancer, and has reduced the progression of the disease. It's also a well known agent for reducing cholesterol in the blood.
MENTAL IMAGING AND STRESS REDUCTION
I recently sent you the story called the "PLACEBO EFFECT". Part of the story was about a man with an incurable disease who "miraculously" cured himself because he BELIEVED he was taking a drug that would cure him. In Dr. Hutschneker's book THE WILL TO LIVE, he speaks about the important link between our emotions and our immune system.
Simply put, if you BELIEVE you can, you will. If you believe the worst will happen, it will. Olympic athletes use mental imaging to see themselves achieve their goals. Reducing stress isn't eliminating things that cause stress, it's about learning how to control your body's response to those causes.
Learning to believe positively takes practice and exercise as much as it does to become a good musician. Like musicians, some of us are born that way. Most of us have to work at it.
In 1978 my father was given 6 months to live. His prostate cancer had escaped the prostate and gone into the bones of his hips and spine. He didn't do radiation. He didn't do chemotherapy. He removed testosterone from his body, treated himself with Vitamin E and lycopene - from carrots - that once turned him as orange as a ripe pumpkin - he over did it like you-know-who.
And he BELIEVED he could convince his immune system to do what it should have been doing all along. Doing mental imaging 5 minutes 5 times a day, fighting an all out war in his imagination.
He lived on for 16 years.
As he once wrote, don't read about all the bad things cancer does. What it does isn't important. What is important is to believe that your immune system has the power to fix these things, whatever they are.
He also said this:
"The sun is shining and its shining for you. Believe it."
Your Dad,
THERE'S A LOT TO LOOK INTO HERE, BUT WILL ANYONE?
Net Neutrality as a Communist Coup Against the Internet
Even now some people are only just beginning to figure out that net neutrality is utterly malign. They would get the picture faster if they examined the mentality and objectives of thepeople behind it:
New internet regulations finally released by the Federal Communications Commission make 46 references to a group funded by billionaire George Soros and co-founded by a neo-Marxist.The FCC released the 400-page document on Thursday, two weeks after it passed new regulations, which many fear will turn the internet into a public commodity and thereby stifle innovation.“Leveling the playing field” in that way has been a clear goal of Free Press, a group dedicated to net neutrality which was founded in 2003. …The term “Free Press” is mentioned 62 times in the regulations. Some are redundant mentions referring to the same Free Press activists’ comments in favor of more oversight. In total, the FCC cited Free Press’ pro-net neutrality arguments 46 times.
“Free Press” sounds like a good thing, right? But don’t forget we are living in Orwell’s 1984. By “Free Press,” they mean government-controlled press. One of the cofounders is University of Illinois professor Robert McChesney, who has been outspoken in his support for federal control of the Internet — and of news media in general. Free speech reeks of capitalism, you see:
“In the end, there is no real answer but to remove brick by brick the capitalist system itself, rebuilding the entire society on socialist principles,” McChesney wrote in a 2009 essay.“Only government can implement policies and subsidies to provide an institutional framework for quality journalism,” he said.“The news is not a commercial product. It is a public good, necessary for a self-governing society. Once we accept this, we can talk about the kind of media policies and subsidies we want,” McChesney once argued.
More McCheesy:
“Advertising is the voice of capital,” McChesney said in a 2009 interview with the Socialist Project. “We need to do whatever we can to limit capitalist propaganda, regulate it, minimize it, and perhaps even eliminate it.”
His objective appears clear enough: use government control of the media, including the Internet, to regulating content so as to advance Marxism, with the ultimate objective of inflicting on America what the Bolsheviks did to Russia.
Unsurprisingly, these people have Obama’s ear. Also unsurprisingly, they are extremely well funded by the big money ultra-left:
[Free Press] has received $2.2 million in donations from progressive billionaire George Soros’ Open Society Foundations and $3.9 million from the Ford Foundation.
If the history of communism is any guide, when these people finish consolidating control, advocating private ownership of property will earn you a bullet to the back of the head. Controlling the Internet is a major objective for them; “net neutrality” will put them in a position to achieve it.
