A BRILLIANT ANALYSIS OF DEVELOPMENTS IN THE MEDIA OVER THE LAST 15 YEARS OR SO: Watching the lefty media implode since the advent of the internet is such fun. What has to be watched is how they push back against the innovators and free market forces. A return to the good old days just won't cut it.

It remains a mystery how ABC, NBC, CBS have retained any viewership and influence in light of the revolution brought on by the internet.  The NYTimes is slowly imploding, the newsweeklies have all collapsed, big city newspapers are shrinking right before our eyes, but somehow the broadcast networks continue to motor on.  It is possible their monopoly on the homes that do not have cable is responsible, and we may forget there are many parts of the US that do not have access to cable.  While they are slowly losing viewers, the broadcasters still have the biggest numbers for advertisers who want to reach a broad audience.  One wonders if advertisers will ever figure out the waste involved in reaching a mass audience, espescially a mass audience that is somewhat downscale in terms of income and purchasing power.  Still, many mass marketers, such as automobiles and foodstuff are smitten with the numbers rather than the demographics.
