Shariah law or Constitutional Democracy?
Frank Gaffney presents the case against the Obama's treatment of Muslims and Muslim states here. It is a compelling indictment of the policies toward the WOT and for that matter Muslims in general of the current administration. In fact, after reading this closely reasoned argument we should be posing the following question of every Muslim who wishes to enter this country: Which do you believe is the best system for any state to govern under, Shariah law, or a secular constitutional democracy? Should the person answer Shariah law, he would be denied entry to the US, for we would have identified this person as a radical Islamist and therefore either a terrorist or a terrorist sympathizer. In either case a serious threat to the US. We are at serious risk under the policies of this administration and the sooner we make the necessary changes in the political environment the better.

The Alternative to Obamacare
Here is a very definitive explication of the healthcare, aka: insurance, reform debate. The Big Lizard blog is a highly regarded conservative blog that is known for standing up for traditional American values, and challenging those values that have been tried elsewhere and found lacking (like anything to do with socialist, big state solutions to just about any problem -- think USSR). The solutions to the healthcare crisis found in this post are also found in those put forth by Paul Ryan (Representative from Wisconsin) and Eric Cantor (and a few others), who have proposed free market solutions to healthcare issues. Ryan and Cantor of the H of R, are young (30's) representatives who are exceptionally bright and informed members. They know the numbers and they value our free society and free market economy, the only system known to man to actually create wealth. Everyone would do well to internalize their positions (as represented in this Big Lizard post) and be prepared to put the non-thinking liberals in favor of Ocare to rest. It is helpful to understand before reading this post that the current system of healthcare insurance linked to employment is the result of the wartime economy of WW II, and was and is a very big impediment to lower cost healthcare in the US. It must be scrapped in order to move forward with a rational, incentive-based system that actually works and above all keeps the distortions of the government out of the picture.

Unequal Income and Income Redistribution
Unequal income and income redistribution is the official mantra of the Democrat Party, it has always been so since the '30's and the New Deal of Roosevelt & co. In 1995, in this article here, two members of the Powerline Blog team, John Hinderaker and Scott Johnson, went to the trouble of deconstructing and dismantling the spurious reasoning and arguments of the Democrat Party on this subject. It is well worth reading and understanding the points they made then because failure to do so leaves one at the mercy of the distortions of facts that lay at the root of the Democrat Party's harmful and debilitating political and economic philosophy. What makes these times of the hard left policies of the current administration so perilous is the constant drumbeat of support for them by the so-called mainstream media. This article is a reasoned antidote to the virus of socialism as promoted by the Obama administration and their media allies.

Obamacare's cynical ploy
Powerlineblog, insightfully, as usual, highlights the incredibly cynical ploy by the leftards who created Obamacare in this piece here. The logic of this post is irrefutable. Clearly the writers of the plan meant to provide no enforcement for the so-called "mandate" requiring uninsured people to buy individual policies or face fines, etc., because none is found anywhere in the plan. In other words should you, as an uninsured, refuse to buy the "mandated" policy, while technically in violation of the law, the law specifically states there will be no consequence for ignoring this provision. Powerline explains why then law was written in this manner..

Gerrymandering and Democracy
Maxine Waters represents a district in southern California that includes South Central L.A., and Watts. It is largely a black and Hispanic constituency, with all the attendant problems of like districts in other cities in the U.S. What these districts have in common is that they are the result of gerrymandering along the way to ensure overwhelmingly minority populations and therefore minority representation in the various political bodies, including the U.S. House of Representatives. What's wrong with this "guaranteed" minority representation is that it ensures one party rule as well minority representation, since there are no more than a handful of Republican minorities in the country. In the absence of competition there is no way to keep the incumbent pols honest, or at least challenged for competency, and consequently most of these district have Maxine Waters type "lifers" in office (Charlie Rangel of New York comes to mind) who are usually a combination of corrupt and dishonest as well as incompetent. While these individual districts may suffer from lack of competition, the rest of the body politic (us) suffer as well because Waters, Rangal, et al, through the ill advised seniority system that prevails in Washington, end up as Committee chairs or ranking members and wield power and influence wholly disproportionate to their abilities. For example, Charlie Rangal is the current Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, maybe the most powerful committee in the Congress. Gerrymandering is but one of the many reasons our political system is failing us at this crucial time, but it is at least one with a solution. Make districts more representative of the general population, instead of carving out population segments and creating districts that will be sure to elect only minorities. There is no valid or coherent argument that the present system provides better representation for these districts. It clearly does not. There is a valid and coherent argument that the present system attracts and keeps incompetent hacks in power for ever. Competition is the mother's milk of free market capitalism. It is for the political system as well. We'll keep getting Maxine Waters and Charlie Rangals until gerrymandering is reformed.
